What is Make 10 Marketplace?
It is a marketplace held at the Georgia Institute of Technology during Launchpad—the College of Design's student work showcase and networking event. Each vendor at this marketplace has only 10 units of their product for the night.
Making a marketable product
I wanted to create a marketable product—something that would sell fast. This made my target demographic young adults, since they're more likely to form brand loyalty early and spend more on material goods as a form of identity. [source]As a Gen-Z designer and consumer, I knew that instant cameras—and 2000s nostalgia culture as a whole—were making a comeback. [source]
A majority of my respondents collected instant film, enamel pins, or both. (n=32)
Of those who had instant cameras, a majority of them had the Fujifilm Instax Mini.
What makes Bunni special?
Bunni isn't just a photo frame. It's a multi-functional display piece. It's a product that displays memories and identity by letting consumers swap between photos and enamel pins.

Branding
Having a brand identity is what makes people remember you. I wanted this to be communicated through my product designs and logo.Since my products targeted young adults, I wanted my brand to be visually playful and cute. Therefore, I chose a bunny as the appropriate motif across my brand—in my products and in my logo.

Production
After making the samples out of PLA plastic, I explored acrylic as a display material. The acrylic samples increased production time and didn't look visually appealing—the protective film melted onto the grid. Sometimes, doing less is more. That was the case here.

Side by Side Comparison
During the sample making process, there was demand for making a larger display size for those who wanted to truly display their enamel pin collection. So, I created a 4x6" photo display version.
Selling
Make 10 Marketplace rolls around and I'm able to sell out and make $150 in under 2 hours. This leads to continued demand being met through digital sales on Cults3D as 3D-printing becomes more accessible.

Since then, I've continued designing and publishing 3D products through Cults3D—amassing 1,000+ downloads and 23,000+ views across my page. These statistics have earned me a place within the community and increased visibility.
